Pearls on anterior vitrectomy for cataract surgeons

چکیده

With up to 6% of cataract surgeries complicated by vitreous loss,1 anterior vitrectomy is an essential skill of today’s cataract surgeon. Although the incidence of this complication is predictably higher in patients with complex cataracts due to pseudoexfoliation, intraoperative floppy iris syndrome, or posterior polar or dense cataracts, vitreous loss can occur unexpectedly in any case. To decrease their anxiety and improve their outcomes, all surgeons should be well prepared to recognize and appropriately manage vitreous prolapse.
